Tucker Hibbert to Race FIM Snowcross World Championship in Sweden

Tucker Hibbert to Race FIM Snowcross World Championship in Sweden

Goodridge, Minn. (March 4, 2010) – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert is proud to announce that he will represent the USA at the FIM Snowcross World Championship in Mala, Sweden March 27. Hibbert hopes to become the first American rider in history to win the World Championship at his first attempt competing outside of North America.

Hibbert recently finished his scheduled race season with nine national victories. The season was highlighted by his 50th career win and fourth-consecutive gold medal at ESPN Winter X Games 14. He made the decision to race the World Championship the beginning of February and is not something he has taken lightly. Unlike the national series he competes in, the World Championship has sound and fuel restrictions and does not allow the use of traction products. These restrictions have forced him to change his sled set-up and riding style dramatically. To properly prepare, he built a track at his home to resemble past World Championship courses. He has pounded out countless laps and implemented different riding techniques that he believes are crucial to being competitive on a European style track.

The FIM Snowcross World Championship will take place at a ski hill in northern Sweden and will feature three 15-minute races with an overall score crowning the World Champion. The highest an American rider has finished in the past is fourth overall. For the first time in the event’s 11-year history, it will also feature an national team challenge. Hibbert’s score, along with two other rider’s scores from the USA, will count towards the national team title.

Stay posted to www.tucker-hibbert.com and the Tucker Hibbert Official Facebook Page for up-to-date information on Hibbert’s first experience traveling and racing overseas. The event will be broadcasted live on www.freecaster.tv.

Tucker Hibbert - #68 Monster Energy/Arctic Cat
“I’m honored by the opportunity to represent the United States at the World Championship. I’ve never traveled overseas so to prepare for this race has been a completely new experience for me. I guess this is my Olympics. I always go into a race focused on winning but now I feel an obligation to win for my country.
I’m confident that we (the team) have done our homework and are prepared to win. We’ve spent countless hours testing and tuning my Monster Energy/Arctic Cat. We’ve learned a lot but are still at a disadvantage because we’ve never raced there. My dad raced in Finland at one point in his career and he was in Sweden a couple years ago, so he has some insight on what to expect. We’ll give it our all and hope for the best!”

Monster Energy Pro Circuit's Steven Frossard

Category: Sports

Steven Frossard in action - Kawasaki image

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Steven Frossard is for sure the rider who many are counting out of the World Championship. While names like Musquin, Roczen, Herlings and Paulin are the riders people are looking at to battle for the title not too many take the Monster Energy Pro Circuit rider too serious.

Frossard showed glimpses of brilliance last year, but inconsistent results cost him a chance to battle for the MX2 World title. With a change to the Pro Circuit engines Frossard is now confident he has the tools to win a World title, and join the likes ofChristophe Pourcel and Marvin Musquin as a World MX2 champion.

MXlarge: Steven, thanks for taking my call. Last year you looked great at times, but other times you made mistakes. Can you explain how that went for you last year?

Frossard: Sometimes I did a podium and sometimes I crashed, but it was my bike, not me that the problem was. I had many problems, but now with this new bike it’s much better. This bike is so much better, it’s not the same bike, this bike is unbelievable, the suspension is better, the engine is so much better. Many changes and that give me confidence.

MXlarge: On your new bike in Valence you showed really good speed. Can you tell me about your race in Valence a couple of weeks ago?

Frossard: Valence it was a good race for me, I tried my new bike, and first it was difficult because I didn’t have a good feeling at first. I start very bad, but I had good speed and came back to fifth or fourth. The second race I started in 8th and came back to Musquin and another rider it was a good race for me.

MXlarge: Where are you now?

Frossard: I am now in Netherlands , training with the team, I also did a good test on my condition and my condition is very good now.

MXlarge: I understand you train for the sand with former Grand Prix racer Kees Van Der Ven, how does that go?

Frossard: Kees is very good, I work with him when I am in Holland and he is a great coach in the sand. He doesn’t speak a lot, but when he tells me something it’s good. I have improved a lot because of the help from Kees.

MXlarge: How was your winter training?

Frossard: I had a program and we did a lot of work, also good work with my physical coach, we did a lot of running and cycling.

MXlarge: What about this year, what is your goal?

Frossard: I want to win, I don’t go for second or third this year. I work for winning the World title this year. For the moment I don’t think about the other riders, in my head it will be easy, doesn’t matter about Musquin or Roczen, I don’t have a problem with them, in my head I want to be World Champion.

MXlarge: Do you like the circuit in Sevlievo?

Frossard: I like Bulgaria , I won a heat there last year, and the second heat I broke my engine, normally I should have won there, but...Before Bulgaria I have two races in France , then I have another race, it is good before the World Championship, it is good preparation on hard pack circuits.
